Churches and Places of Worship Need Security

At Security America, we are always looking into places that we believe would best benefit from a security presence. We stay current and up to date on what is happening in the world, and make sure that we are aware of what goes on in the news. As of late, there have been many terroristic attacks taken against churches and places of worship, and unfortunately, we must address this issue and the different ways to combat this violence.

Church Security Officer

As we delve deeper into the 2018 year, we would like to talk about the seriousness of this topic as it has been in the news several times the past few years and especially lately. How can we keep these places meant for worship safe and secure?

Churches are known for their generosity towards people, and their willingness to let anyone inside of their doors that wants or needs, no questions asked. While this giving nature and platform are the reasons people of faith attend church, keeping the doors open can also make them vulnerable to those with negative intentions.

As in the case of the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ shooting, where a gunman carrying two pistols opened fire as Sunday services were ending, killing one person and wounding seven others, a security officer may have been able to prevent this if on the scene. In this tragedy the gunman also pistol-whipped a church goer who attempted to confront him. A security officer can allow the parishioners to worship and enjoy their time at church, instead of having to worry and stress about the possibility of a potential tragedy.

Churches are known as “soft targets”, and on occasion can be tempting ones to terrorists. Many experts say that because of this, churches need to be able to protect themselves in times of need, and one way to be able to do so is to have a security officer on site. Security America has offices in Charleston, Columbus, and Pittsburgh, and with hundreds of places of worship between the three, Security America can help to ensure the safety of each location.

At Security America, we want to assure that we are providing the greatest overall experience to our clients from beginning to end, and we do everything that we can to guarantee that is the case.
